We Are From Dust

We Are From Dust is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the transformative power of interactive art to public spaces.

The project embraces the values of self-expression, self-reliance, inclusion, participation, gifting, communal effort, civic responsibility, immediacy, decommodification and leaving no trace except positive interactions, and is committed to demonstrating and sharing these values with others through art.

We Are From Dust is made up of Burners and non-Burners who are dedicated to transforming people’s lives through participatory art. In the spirit of inclusion, collaboration and communal effort, all are welcome to join us in this effort.

We believe it’s time to instigate the conversation that public art can be more interactive, participatory and actively engaging. To that end, it’s our mission to bring the incredible interactive artwork inspired by or created for Black Rock City out of the dust and into the broader world, demonstrating by example that the Burning Man school of art has earned its rightful place — and represents a significant movement — in art history.
